Amanda Seyfried is one of those actresses who seems to like to pick and choose all sorts of random projects, depending on what takes her fancy, rather than just concentrating on finding roles that’ll take her to the big time.
Since Mamma Mia! she’s done everything from shag Julianne Moore in Chloe to deal with werewolves in the upcoming Red Riding Hood. Now she’s heading into thriller territory, as a press release has gone out announcing her for Gone.
The film sees Jill Parrish (Seyfried) return home from the night shift to find her sister’s bed empty. She is convinced that the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job. But the police do not believe her and Jill knows time is running out. With no one to turn to, Jill sets off to find her sister and face her abductor once and for all.
Hmm, didn’t they stop making this sort of film about 10 years ago, just around the time Ashley Judd (who starred in nearly all of them) dropped off the face of the planet? Oh well, perhaps it’s better than it sounds. H
eitor Dhalia, who made the Brazilian films Adrift and Drained, will be making his English-language directing debut with the project. Let’s hope he can add some spark to what sounds like a fairly tired thriller. The film is currently ebing sold at the European Film Market.
