Little Miss Sunshine directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris haven’t made a movie since their breakout hit. It hasn’t been for want of trying, as the duo have been attached to all manner of projects, but none of them have come together. However now the LA Times reports that star Paul Dano will reunite with Dayton and Faris for a new indie project entitled He Loves Me.
Paul Dano wrote the screenplay with his girlfriend Zoe Kazan, which centres on Paul Dano’s character, a writer who achieves success with his first novel but then gets writers bloc. In an attempt to break out of his creative slump, the writer creates the woman he thinks will fall in love with him, who he ends up willing into existence. It all sounds like an 80s comedy, but expect something bittersweet in the vein of Little Miss Sunshine, as it’s described as a cross between Adaptation and Weird Science.
Let’s hope this one actually gets made, as it’s getting slightly ridiculous that five years on from their Oscar winning indie flick, Dayton and Faris are yet to make another movie.
