Last February, Universal bought David Guggenheim’s spec script Safe House, and soon after Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington came in to take the main roles. Washington will be a newly arrived prisoner who has to go on the run with a CIA trainee, played by Reynolds, after their safe house comes under attack by assassins.
Variety reports that the movie has now rounded out its cast as it prepares to start shooting, with Bredan Gleeson, Liam Cunningham, Sam Shepard and Robert Patrick all signing up to star in the flick. Unfortunately though, there’s no news on what roles they’ll play.
Daniel Espinosa will make his English-language directing debut with the movie, having impressed Hollywood with Snabba Cash (aka Easy Money), which is currently being devoled for a Tinsel Town do-over starring Zac Efron. Shooting starts next week, with a February 2012 release date scheduled.
