There now seems little doubt that like its Valentine’s Day predecessor, New Year’s Eve is going to have a cast so filled with famous faces that there will have to be a huge amount of different mini-stories, none of which are on-screen long enough for anyone to care about.
Although the ensemble was already big enough, Josh Duhamel, Ice Cube and Ryan Seacrest are now in negotiations to join the throng. If they do all sign up, that’d put them in the company of Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Abigail Breslin, Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Til Schweiger, Hilary Swank and Sofia Vergara.
Set in New York, the film will tell a series of intertwining romantic stories, all set on New Year’s Eve. According to THR, ‘Duhamel, one of the leads, plays a hopeless romantic who spends the day trying to get to New York in the hope of getting to a party in order to re-meet a mystery girl from the previous year.’ Ice Cube would be an NYPD officer whos working with organiser’s of the Time Square New Year activities, while Seacrest would cameo as himself.
The movie starts shooting soon and will hit cinemas in December.
