Even though originally it was supposed to be shooting by now (it was meant to start filming in December, but probably won’t begin until next month), director Garry Marshall is still busy adding to the already heaving ensemble cast of New Year’s Eve, his follow-up to last year’s hit, Valentine’s Day.
This time the action moves from LA to New York, with a group of people dealing with their romantic entanglements during the end of year festivities. THR reports that rocker and occasional actor Jon Bon Jovi, SNL writer/performed Seth Meyers and Inglourious Basterds star Til Schweiger have all signed on for the flick.
They’ll join the likes of Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Abigail Breslin, Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank and Sofia Vergara, all of whom were presumably attracted by the fact that with each story only getting a limited amount of screen time, it’s just a few days work for a decent amount of money.
Bon Jovi will stretch his acting abilities to the limit, playing a successful rocker who once dumped Halle Berry’s caterer character. Meyers is a hard-up guy who wants his wife (Biel) to have the first new baby of the year, but find himself in a heated competition to win a $25,000 prize. There’s no news though on who Schweiger will play.
Unsurprisingly, the film will be released in December, just before New Year’s Eve.
