Screen Gems has set Easy A director Will Gluck to produce its remake of 1986 Brat Pack rom com, About Last Night. According to Variety, Gluck won’t helm the movie himself, but will instead seek out a writer and director.
The original film was directed by Ed Zwick and starred Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, James Belushi and Elizabeth Perkins. Despite its Brat Pack cast and breezy rom com feel, it was actually based on David Mamet’s 1974 play Sexual Perversity in Chicago, about a couple who start a romantic affair despite their friends’ disapproval. Unsuprisingly most of the profanity that the stage version is known for was removed from the film and the whole thing was watered down and made a lot more cute, which presumably the new version will follow.
Personally we want to see Ashton Kutcher in the Rob Lowe role, just to see how Demi Moore reacts when she discovers her hubby is remaking one of her films a quarter century on, playing one half of a loved-up couple she was once part of.
