The teaser trailer for Red Riding Hood was quite good, with a moody air of romance and gothic horror, however I’m not sure about this full trailer, which seems keen to sell the film as more action based (complete with modern soundtrack clashing with the medieval visuals), and as a result makes it look, well, kind of cheesy. We’ve seen this a lot recently, as companies desperately try to cash in on Twilight, while also attempting to make the movies look like they’ll appeal to haters of all things Bella and Edward. Indeed this one’s from the director of Twilight, Catherine Hardwicke, so they’re having even more trouble trying to appeal to both lovers and haters of the vampiric saga. Whether the actual film is cheesy is yet to be seen, and we probably should put this trailer down to dodgy marketing.
In the upcoming film Amanda Seyfried plays Valerie, who is in love with a brooding outsider, Peter (Shiloh Fernandez), but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Max Irons). The lovers plan to run away together but learn that Valerie’s older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village. For years, the people have maintained an uneasy truce with the beast, but the wolf has now upped the stakes by taking a human life. Hungry for revenge, the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Gary Oldman), but his arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them. Take a look at the teaser trailer below. The film is set for release on April 15th, 2011.
