A few new pics have popped up online, including our very first official shots of Jim Carrey in Mr. Popper’s Penguins, which has just finished shooting. Take a look below to see them, as well as a preview of the first proper image from Twilight: Breaking Dawn, and a new poster for Red Riding Hood.
It’s only just finished shooting, but 20th Century Fox has released the first shots from Mr. Popper’s Penguins. We’ve got two of them above, but head over to USA Today for a few more. Based on a beloved US children’s book, the film is about a house painter whose dreams of exploration lead him to send letters to explorers. One of them unexpectedly sends him a penguin, and after acquiring a female to go alongside it, Mr Popper is soon dealing with a whole litter of the birds. He eventually sets up a troupe of performing penguins so he can afford to keep them, although all this invitably causes choas. Apparently the movie features 50% real penguins, with the rest done using CG, with the sets kept refrigerated so the animals didn’t overheat.
A rather nifty, gothic new poster for Red Riding Hood has been released. Directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) Amanda Seyfried plays Valerie, who is in love with a brooding outsider, Peter (Shiloh Fernandez), but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Max Irons). The lovers plan to run away together but learn that Valerie’s older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village. The arrival of a wereworld hunter (Gary Oldman), brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them. Click here for the teaser trailer. The film is set for release on April 15th, 2011.
Finally, here’s a preview of the first proper pic from Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (we’ll ignore the rather pointless pic the director previously released). It’ll be in the latest print edition of EW, but you can see here that it shows Bella finally breaking her cherry with vampire Edward. Hopefully we’ll have a better version soon. The film is in cinemas on November 18th
