It’s been in the works since 2007, but with endless delays and not much info, many were half-expecting the idea of a Jerry Bruckheimer produced, Johnny Depp starring Lone Ranger movie to go the way of the Dodo. While it’s always been there in the background, most of those involved have seemed happy to keep it there.
On its own a logo reveal might not seem much, but in reality in moves a film from being something people are interested in to a real film that’s on its way and which everyone expects to make and release to cinemas (and therefore want the public to know about). Bruckehimer himself has given us our first look at the Lone Ranger logo on his new look website.
As things stand, Gore Verbinski will direct, with Johnny Depp as the Lone Ranger’s trusty sidekick, Tonto. There’s no news on who will play the title role of the westen lawman, although the likes of Geroge Clooney have been mentioned (Disney are likely to want to go younger though). There’s no release date set either, beyond ‘coming soon’.
