Yep, that pic above is indeed the first official image from the reboot of Spider-man, which started shooting last month with Andrew Garfield in the lead role, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Marc Webb directing. Sony has released the pic over at the film’s Facebook page. Click on the pic for a larger version!
It certainly appears that Garfield’s Peter Parker has been in the wars, with a dirty costume and scratched face, although it could also be that the costume is deliberately darker that before. It’s good to see that while slightly different (and more rubbery) that the costume worn by Tobey Maguire, it’s not a massive departure, although the Spider logo in the centre look quite different – even if properly making it out is impossible because of rips in the costume.
Anyway, have a good look and hopefully we’ll get more images soon, although as the film doesn’t hit cinemas until summer 2012, it’s possible Sony will want to keep the tease going for a while yet!
