Jodie Foster doesn’t make all that many movies, so it’s always worth paying attention when she decides to sign onto something, and this time is no exception, as Deadline reports that she’s adding weight to the increasingly impressive cast of District 9 director Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming Elysium.
She’ll join Sharlto Copley and the now confirmed Matt Damon in the movie, although we still have no idea who any of them will play, as Blomkamp is keeping details of the plot locked up tight. All that is known about this sci-fi thriller is that it will be set on another planet in the distant future. The director has also suggested it’s very violent and that like District 9 it mixes socipolitical ideas with a sci-fi thriller.
At the moment, Blomkamp is busy putting the cast together, as while he’s already got financial backing, he needs a studio partner/distirbution, and a list of star names attached to the flick will certainly help him get that. Once the cast is set, he’ll try to sell Elysium to studios, and then filming can commence later this year.
