For a while now there’s been some confusion over whether Marvel character Hawkeye would be making an appearance on Thor. A few months ago, Jeremy Renner, who’s signed up to play the superhero archer in The Avnegers, said that he could well appear in Thor, but quickly becktracked to suggest we shouldn’t expect Hawkeye until The Avengers and this his quote was “blown out of proportion” (which to be honest it was, as all he did was suggest what he’d like to happen).
However now TheWrap says he he will indeed be in Thor, and that the backtracking is likely down to the fact he’s only getting a small cameo, rather than playing any sort of major role on the movie. Although his presence hasn’t been confirmed by Marvel, TheWrap says they’ve talked to someone whp’s seen an early cut of Thor, who says that Renner’s Hawkeye does indeed make a short appearance, although they didn’t elaborate on the context of the cameo or at what point in the movie it will happen.
So will he show up? To be honest, it’s still up in the air. Even if director Kenneth Branagh has filmed a Hawkeye cameo, it could be cut before the film’s release, and there’s always the possibility TheWrap’s source is wrong. However nothing else is happening in Hollywood at the moment, so we might as well speculate!
