Clint Eastwood is planning to shoot his biopic of FBI founder/boss J. Edgar Hoover – simply titiled J. Edgar – fairly soon, and so is busy putting together the cast. Leo Dicaprio is taking the title role, Armie Hammer will be his confidant/possible lover Clyde Tolson and recently it was said Charlize Theron was in the mix to play Hoover’s longtime secretary, Helen Gandy.
Now it appears Clint himself has confirmed that Theron is in talks for the movie, and that Judi Dench will appear in the flick as well. He told John Sandwich Films that, “We think she (Charlize Theron) will be in the film (With a smile.) And Judi Dench is definitely in the film and there we are.”
However what he didn’t say is the role Dench will play, so at the moment that’s completely unknown. However Eastwood did talk a little about casting DiCaprio to play the complex man who went from catching gangsters to being one of the most powerful men in America, who was loved and loathed in equal measure, as the sometimes heavy-hanced head of the FBI. Clint says, “The script is a very good script and we were all preparing it and he [DiCaprio] liked the script. He actually volunteered for it.”
The movie should be in cinemas in 2012.
