They may not be the most anticipated movies ever, but My Idiot Brother, Take Shelter and Upside Down are all interesting looking flicks, and now the first images from them have been released. The new images from My Idiot Brother are above and directly below. Despite the big beard, that’s Paul Rudd we can see, who plays the title character, an idealist dealing with an overbearing mother, who crashes into the homes of his three sisters (Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel and Emily Mortimer). While he turns their lives upside-down, he also brings truth and happiness. It’s premiering at Sundance next month, and should be in cinemas later in 2011.
Take a look at the first My Idiot Brother pics above and below, and head underneath that for shots from Upside Down and Take Shelter.
The two pics above are the first shots from Upside Down (which debuted over at IntoTheScreen), which is one of the more intriguing upcoming pics, a conceptual romance/sci-fi from director Juan Solanas. Here’s the synopsis: ‘Adam is a seemingly ordinary guy in a very extraordinary universe. He lives humbly trying to make ends meet, but his romantic spirit holds on to the memory of a girl he met once upon a time from another world, an inverted affluent world with its own gravity, directly above but beyond reach (each universe is in the sky of the other, able to see once another but not interact) a girl named Eve. Their childhood flirtation becomes an impossible love. But when he catches a glimpse of grown-up Eve on television, nothing will get in the way of getting her back ’
Another interesting addition to the Sundance Film Festival is Take Shelter, and now the Festival’s website has debuted the first pics from the movie, which you can see above. Still not a massive amount is known about the Jeff Nichols movie, which stars Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain, but here’s the synopsis from Sundance: ‘Curtis LaForche lives in a small town in Ohio with his wife, Samantha, and daughter, Hannah, a six-year-old deaf girl. When Curtis begins to have terrifying dreams, he keeps the visions to himself, channeling his anxiety into obsessively building a storm shelter in his backyard. His seemingly inexplicable behavior concerns and confounds those closest to him, but the resulting strain on his marriage and tension within his community cant compare with Curtiss privately held fear of what his dreams may truly signify.’ So just a drama about someone going a bit mental, or something more Donnie Darko? We’ll have to wait and see.
