It seems Anne Hathaway’s going to be busy, as not only is she hosting the Oscars, but it appears she may also have lined up two new roles. Showbiz 411 reports that actress Anne Hathaway has signed on to star in The Silver Linings Playbook, with Bradley Cooper in contention for a lead role as well.
This isn’t the first we’ve heard of the film, as back in March writer-director David O. Russell came on board to adapt and direct Matthew Quick’s novel. While it was believed that David O. Russell would tackle Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune next, it seems this project may go first.
The film will be about Pat Peoples, a former high school teacher who was institutionalised for depression and is then released into the care of his mother. He tries to win back his ex-wife but becomes involved with a bizarre neighbour who also has a history of mental problems.
It isn’t clear when The Silver Linings Playbook will go into production, and it still hasn’t been confirmed that this will in fact be David O. Russell’s next movie, although it might well be, as the director has suggested a lot of pre-production work needs to happen for Uncharted, giving him a gap where he may be able to squeeze in Silver Linings.
And that’s not all Hathaway may be up to, as Pajiba report in a tweet that she’s the latest name attached to a remake of Barabrella. Although Pajiba has had some decent scoops, it should be noted that this is far from official, so don’t be shocked if nothing ever comes of it. They also note that while Robert Rodriguez and Robert Luketic have previously been involved, there’s currently no director attached.
Barbarella centres on a female mercenary who roams the universe in the distant future, undertaking missions that require fearlessness, ingenuity and sensuality. It’s previously been reported that the new take on the iconic character will not be as campy as the infamous Jane Fonda 1968 version. Though it will keep the sexuality, the focus will be on the adventure.
