We haven’t seen Chris Tucker on cinemas screens since 2007’s Rush Hour 3, and while many would say that’s a good thing, it appears he’s now decided on his next movie, an action comedy called The Rabbit for Warner Bros.
Tucker’s selective nature has certainly worked for him, as despite the fact he’s only really known for the Rush Hour movies, he managed to score a $25 million payday for the third one, just by being reluctant to appear on screen again. It’s unlikely he’ll be getting as much for The Rabbit though, which will be based on a spec script by Micah Barnett, but if Tucker wants to remain a ‘star’ name in film circles, he knows he needs a new movie soon.
According to Variety, the screenplay is about a Vegas magician and escape artist who is forced to flee the country and becomes a renowned ‘Houdini for hire’, helping clients who want to break themselves or their loved ones out of prison. He’s then offered redemption by the CIA in return for one last job, to break a soncially stunted counterfeiter out of an Eastern European fortress, before he’s killed by the Russian mob. No production date has yet been set.
