Playing a man going through a crisis after his life collapses seems oddly prescient for Mel Gibson, although presumably the actor isn’t using a puppet to help him get through his current roubles. However that’s what The Beaver is about, with Mel as Walter Black, a man plagued by his own demons who was once a successful toy executive and family man, but now suffers from depression. No matter what he tries, Walter can’t seem to get himself back on track, until a beaver hand puppet enters his life, who becomes his way to detach and communicate with the world. While many wondered whether the Jodie Foster directed and starring movie would ever see the light of day following Mel’s racist rants, it’s due for UK release in February. Now the trailer is here, so click below to take a look. It might be pretty good, if we ignore Mel’s pariah status!
