Much as Walt Disney did with the second two sequels Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Hitfix has learned that the next two installments of the franchise after Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will shoot back-to-back. However it should be cautioned that these films are still at the early stages, so while Disney may wish to do this, there’s no guarantee they will – after all, much is probably dependent on Johnny Depp saying yes.
That said, the cast and crew have reportedly been told to set aside a major block of time in the very near future so that both Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and Pirates of the Caribbean 6 can be completed as one giant movie that will be split into two parts.
Johnny Depp is locked in for both The Lone Ranger and Dark Shadows for 2011, so that brings into question when these next two Pirates of the Caribbean sequels will actually kick into gear. It suggests that while On Stranger Tides will arrive in cinemas in 2011, parts 5 & 6 will shoot in 2012 for release in 2013 and 2014. Expect to hear more about this continuing franchise in the very near future.
