Can you see Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell playing political rivals? It may seem a tough ask at first, but Ferrell did win plaudits for his one-man Broadway show, where he played George W. Bush, so perhaps he and Galifianakis can pull it off!
They’re both attached to a currently untitled political comedy, which Jay Roach (Austin Power, Meet The Parents) has been shopping around Hollywood. The project has seen interest from all the major studios, with Warner Bros. eventually winning up and landing the movie, according to Variety.
The idea is to have the comedy in cinemas in time for 2012’s presidential elections, with Ferrell and Galifianakis playing two candidates for America’s top job.
Like the stars, Roach may seem an odd choice to direct, but he also has form in the political arena, as he directed Recount for HBO, which looked at the mess in Florida following the 2000 presidential election between Gore and Bush.
