It’s been noticable this year, that with revitalising classic tales the ‘in’ thing in Hollywood following Sherlock Holmes and Alice In Wonderland, studios keep developing projects based on the same source, in the hopes that their one will be the first out of the gate.
There are already two Frankenstein movies being slowly put together in Hollywood, one by Guilermo Del Toro and another based on Dean Koontz’s updated novel, and now a third has emerged, with Deadline reporting that former Sony co-president Matt Tomach has landed a pitch deal at the studio he used to help run, for a contemporary take on Mary Shelley’s tale.
Few details are known about the specific angle of the film, although Craig Fernandez pitched the project and will write the script, and Tolmach will produce. However with several other similar projects in the works, whether this one will come to fruition is by no means certain.
