When Mel Gibson became a pariah again earlier this year, many assumed that not only was his on-screen career finished, but that the movie he’d just finished shooting, The Beaver, would never see the light of day. However despite these predictions, the Jodie Foster directed flick has now found distribution in both the US and UK, with Icon (admittedly owned by Gibson) bringing it to Britain in February, with Summit handling it in the US.
We had a poster a few weeks ago, and now the first image has arrived, which you can see above. We’re also promised that a trailer will be online imminently, and should be available by tomorrow.
The movie is about a man called Walter, the depressed CEO of a failing toy company, who is given a glove puppet named The Beaver by his therapist. He begins to wear the puppet at all times and it becomes his main way of communicating with the world. As well as directing, Jodie Foster plays Walter’s wife.
