It’s always good when Ben Foster’s name gets attached to a movie, not just because he’s a good actor, but due to the fact that he normally only picks genuinely interesting scripts. The latest The Messenger star is circling is Contraband, with Variety reporting that Giovanni Ribisi in also in talks for the flick.
Kate Beckinsale and Mark Wahlberg will headline the movie, wich is a remake of the 2008 Icelandic hit, Reykjavik-Rotterdam, about a former smuggler turned security guard (Wahlberg), who has financial woes and is lured back into the drug running game. Ben Foster will play Mark Wahlberg’s brother-in-law but details on Giovanni Ribisi’s character are currently unknown.
Baltasar Kormákur, who is Icelandic but didn’t direct the original (that was Óskar Jónasson) is helming, based on a script by Aaron Guzikowski.
