Carey Mulligan sure is a busy woman! Following her stratospheric rise to fame last year, she’s been lining up jobs left, right and centre, and now it appears she’s got a new one, as the Irish Film & Television Network is reporting she’s attached to Shame, the movie that will reunite Michael Fassbender with Hunger director Steve McQueen.
IFTN casually mentions the news in a story about McQueen and Fassbender getting back together for the movie, and also says that James Badge Dale (The Departed) will co-star. Not a huge amount is know about the plot, other than that Fassbender will play 30-something New Yorker Brandon, who finds himself unable to manage his sex life (the poor thing). The script, by Abi Morgan (Brick Lane) and McQueen, will examine the nature of need, how people live their lives and react to experiences that shame them. The presumption is that Mulligan will play Brandon’s troubled sister.
As yet, Mulligan’s involvement hasn’t been announced through official sources, but there’s a good chance she will be free for the six-week shoot, which starts in January.
