The cast of the Spider-man reboot is growing – which isn’t that surprising considering that it starts shooting soon – with THR reporting that Denis Leary is now in neogitations to play the father of Emma Stone’s character in the movie.
Stone is playing Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker’s love interest in the reboot(Mary-Jane Watson won’t appear at all), and her dad will be police officer George Stacy, who in the comics often came into contact with the young superhero. However in comics lore he was also killed during a battle between Spider-man and Doctor Octopus, which led Stacy to hate the web-slinger, but it’s unknown if her pop’s demise will feature in the movie (if he does die, it won’t be because of Doc Ock, who isn’t in the film).
Indeed little is know about the plot at all, other than that the villain will be The Lizard, played by Rhys Ifans, and that it’s said to be more teen-angsty than Sam Raimi’s movies and will take the title character back to high school. Shooting begins in December for a summer 2012 release.
