While Catherine Wardwicke decided not to direct the follow-up to Twilight after the success of the first film, it doesn’t look like she’s straying too far with Red Riding Hood – or it could be this teaser trailer is deliberately designed to make the film – which is a darker, gothic take on the traditional fairy story – look like a medieval Twilight.
In the upcoming film Amanda Seyfried plays Valerie, who is in love with a brooding outsider, Peter (Shiloh Fernandez), but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Max Irons). The lovers plan to run away together but learn that Valerie’s older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village. For years, the people have maintained an uneasy truce with the beast, but the wolf has now upped the stakes by taking a human life. Hungry for revenge, the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Gary Oldman), but his arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them.
