It’s all go in the world of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. A few weeks ago it looked like the movie was going ahead with and David O’Russell directing, even though Natalie Portman had abandoned the lead role, but then O’Russell left as well to concentrate on Old St. Louis. The next we heard there was a shortlist of potential new directors, including Mike Newell, Neill Marshall, Jonathan Demme, Mike White and Phil Lord & Chris Miller.
While many questioned whether Mike White, best known as a screenwriter on the likes of School of Rock, was up to the task, he soon emerged as the frontrunner, and now Deadline reports that he’s got the job, and has officially signed on to direct. It’ll be his second feature film directing gig following the poorly received Year Of The Dog.
He’ll now have to get busy casting, as while O’Russell was busy wooing Scarlett Johansson and Bradley Cooper for the leads, it’s unclear if they’ll stay.
If case this is the first you’ve heard of the movie, it’s based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s book, which takes the text of Jane Austen’s classic tale and adds in a zombie uprising!
