Even before Valentine’s Day became a sizable hit, New Line was already thinking about making a sequel, but with this one based around New Year’s Eve instead of the day of love. However with Valentine’s Day having a massive ensemble of known actors, who is there left to fill the cast of a follow-up?
Well, THR has the news on some of those who’ll be showing up. They say that both Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer are in neogtiations to join the film, the former playing a bitter dying man in a hospital, while Pfeiffer would be a frustrated executive secretary who decides to tackle her unfulfilled resolutions. Also in talks are Hillary Swank, who’d play the producer of the famed Times Square New Year’s Eve show, and Ashton Kutcher, as a guy who hates New Year’s Eve.
Kutcher had one of the central rolse in Valentine’s Day (he was almost the central pivot around which everything else revolved), but it appears he’ll be playing someone completely different in this new film, which would suggest there’ll be no links to Valentine’s Day, at least character-wise.
Glee’s Lea Michele and young Abigail Breslin are also signed onto the flick, which will start shooting in mid-December in New York, with Garry Marshall once more behind the camera.
