Although they weren’t widely seen, Jonathan Levine’s All The Boys Love Mandy Lane and The Wackness were very well received, and got him the gig directing Live With It (previously known as I’m With Cancer), starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen. That film is now in post-production, and so Levine is looking around for his next project, and it seems he’s settled on Little Girl Lost.
The Wrap reports that Levine is now attached to the adaptation of Richard Aleas’ hardboiled crime novel, about an NYU dropout turned private detective who investigates the death of a stripper who happens to be his high school sweetheart. He doesn’t just want to know how she died, but also what happened in her life to make her become a stripper. Inevtiably though, the closer he gets to the truth, the more dangerous things become.
Universal is backing the adaptation, with Scott Pilgrim’s Michael Bacall of scripting duties, although there’s no word yet on when it might get to cinemas.
