Ever since his star shot into the stratosphere, Sam Worthington has attached himself to so many movies, it was inevitable some would have to fall by the wayside. One of those is This Means War, the long-gestating (Fox bought the script 12 years ago, and it was initially put together as a vehicle for Martin Lawrence and Chris Rock) action comedy, which was given a boost a few months ago when McG stepped onboard to direct.
In the film, Resse Witherspoon will play a woman who becomes the object of desire for two best friends who are also spies. However as the friends become enemies over their love for the woman, the battle between them escalates, leaving major city-wide destruction in its wake. A couple of months ago, Chris Pine and Sam Worthington were down for the two main men (with Seth Rogen and Bradley Cooper also rumoured to have been offered and turned down roles), but now the Avatar star has passed and, according to Vulture, Inception star Tom Hardy will step into his shoes.
However the question remains when this will get made. Hardy is already signed up for the lead in the Mad Max reboot, which has been slightly delayed but is planning an exceptionally long shoot. So is he going to be able to fit This Means War in first, or are they planning to wait for him? If so, the movie won’t get shot until at least the end of next year.
