With Fox having set a release date of next June, director Matthew Vaughn is having to assemble his X-Men: First Class cast pretty quickly, and it seems he’s settled on another name, She’s Out Of My League and Sex and the City 2 star, Alice Eve.
Deadline reports that she’s in talks for the role of Emma Frost in the film. A few weeks ago Rosamund Pike was very tenuously linked to that part, although more recent rumours have suggested that rather than Frost, Pike is being considered for the role of Moira McTaggart.
Assuming the pieces come together, Eve would be one of the first mutants brought into Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Erik Lenscherr’s (Michael Fassbender) new school, where they’ll try and hone her telepathic powers. The movie will follow the proto-Professor X and Magneto’s relationship, starting out as friends before finding very different ways to deal with normal people’s hatred of mutants.
Incidentally, in other comic book news, while it’s been pretty much known for ages, Marvel has now confirmed Tommy Lee Jones for Captain America, where he’ll play Colonel Phillips, the man who recruits Steve Rogers and turns him into a super-soldier.
