Ridley Scott is one of those directors who seems to like to have hundreds of projects lined up at any one time, with some getting made, some being handed off to other directors and some falling by the wayside completely. At the moment he’s already got an Alien prequel, a Monopoly film, a 1930s mob drama, a Gucci biopic and God knows what else on his list of films he’s slated to helm (there are more than 10 of them he’s supposed to be making), and now it looks like he’s keen to add another, with Playlist saying he’s eyeing up Stoker.
The film ‘focuses on a moody teenager (named Indiana Stoker) who – after the death of her father – has to deal with a mysterious uncle who returns to spend time with the family.’ It appears Carey Mulligan and Jodie Foster are both interested in starring, although there’s no news on exactly what roles they’d take (Mulligan would presumably be the moody teenager, but that hasn’t been confirmed).
The script for the film was written by Ted Foulke, which is apparently the pen name for Prison Break star Wentworth Miller. Who knew he had a literary bent?
As yet, neither the director or star are confirmed, and with Ridley, even if he’s interested now, that doesn’t mean he’ll ever actually get round to making the movie. However at the moment it’s a real possibility.
