A few months ago Michael Sucsy, the director of the excellent Emmy and Golden Globe winning HBO movie, Grey Gardens, signed up to helm a film based on the true story of the newly married Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, whose car was hit from behind by a fast moving truck in 1993.
When Kim awoke in the hospital, she’d lost all her memories from the previous two years – which included meeting, falling in love with and marrying her husband – and struggled to rebuild her identity, with her hubby having to try to win her heart for a second time.
Now the movie has got a name, The Vow, and Sucsy is busy finding his cast, with Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum signing up to play the unfortunate couple. Both actors have plenty of experience in tearjerkers, and it doesn’t look like they’ll be breaking away from that here, as the movie is being pitched as a romantic drama.
The fiilm has actually been in development for over a decade, and according to THR, at one point even had Julia Roberts attached to the main role.
