David R. Ellis, director of Snakes On A Plane and The Final Destination is a busy man, with numerous projects on the go, including War Monkeys (which is pretty much what it sounds), Shark Night 3D (ditto) and The Genesis Code (sort of Da Vinci Code-lite with Hayden Christensen).
Another movie he’s directing is Bad Luck, about a group of college friends who are sceptical about superstitions, until those superstitions start coming between them and those they love. When the was announced a few months ago there was no mention of any actors being attached, but now Ellis has been talking to Moviehole and revealed that Milla Jovovich is involved in the film. There’s no news on what role she’ll play, although hopefully she’s not going to try pull off playing a college kid, so hopefully the brief plot synopsis means the script is about people who’ve been friends since college (which is much more suited to Milla), although I suppose she could play a lecturer of some sort. Whatever it’s actually about, Bad Luck certainly has a whiff of FInal Destination about it, making Ellis a good choice to direct.
However it’s War Monkeys that sounds the most intriguing, which Ellis says “is a fun script and, I guess you’d say, has a Snakes on a Plane-vibe about it. People haven’t seen Monkeys with guns!” Yep, you read that right, monkeys with guns. God help us.
