Britain has a bit of a talent for taking the sort of subjects that other countries turn into dark, depressing, worthy drama and making something lighter and more entertaining out of it (just think Billy Elliot, where the Miner’s Strike became the backdrop to a boy who wants to dance). This time around, it’s equal rights for women that gets the bright and breezy Brit flick treatment in Made In Dagenham. The film is based on the true story of a group of female workers at the Ford Dagenham car plant in the late 60s, who organise a strike to protest the fact they get paid less than the men for the same work. Sally Hawkins, Miranda Richardson, Rosamund Pike and Bob Hoskins star and it’s due to his cinemas on October 1st, but to get you in the mood, click below for the new trailer.
