Despite the fact it’s not arriving in cinemas until May 25th, 2012 (after being put back from a mooted 2011 release), the wheels are certainly motoring on Men In Black III, with both Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones recently signing on the dotted line to reprise their roles as agents J and K, with Josh Bolin also onboard to play a younger version of Jones’ character.
A couple of months ago, it was rumoured that Sony was also talking to Sasha Baron Cohen and Flight Of The Conchords star Jermaine Clement, with an eye on casting one of them as the main villain in the movie, an alien called Yaz (although THR says the name has been changed to Boris, who is described as being charmy and creepy at the same time). Now Deadline has confirmed it’s Clement who’s won the role, and will be battling Smith and Jones in the much-anticipated sequel.
This is certainly good news, as while Cohen might have been fun, Jermaine’s a bit of a sharper comedian and was just about the best thing about Gentlemen Broncos. However it was apparently his work in the upcoming Dinner For Schmucks that impressed the MiB III producers, and won him the villainous role.
