For quite a while now, Universal has been working on Desperados as a potential starring vehicle for Isla Fisher. The movie is described a a female version of The Hangover, about a woman who sends an indignant email to her new boyfriend, who has gone silent after they have sex. However she’s horrified to discover his silence is because he’s in a coma in a Mexican hospital. Panicking, she races south of the border with her friends in tow to intercept the email before he recovers.
Surely there must be an easier way to sort things out? But then, I suppose they wouldn’t have a movie.
It seems the movie may have found a director, with the wonderfully named Wayne McClammy in negotiations to take the reins. Although he’s not a well known name, and has never made a feature film before, he got widespread attention in Hollywood after making the videos for Sarah Silverman’s ‘I’m Fucking Matt Damon’ and Jimmy Kimmel’s riposte, ‘I’m Fucking Ben Affleck’, which started as star-studden jokes on Kimmel’s show, before becoming massive worldwide viral internet hits.
At the moment the plan is to start filming before the end of the year.
