Ah, Evan Rachel Wood and Marilyn Manson – still the most peculiar couple around, with an 18 year age difference, accusations of homewrecking on her part, and just being deliberately weird and creepy on his. Now it seems they want to take their love to the silver screen by starring together in the retro slasher movie, Splatter Sisters.
Produced by Edward R. Pressman (American Psycho, Wall Street 2) and David Gordon Green (director of Pineapple Express), the film is the first part of a planned franchise, and described as a sexploitation-serial killer-slasher-road movie circa 1989.
Although there’s little news on the actual plot, David Gordon Green said: Adam [Bhala Lough] has written a script that is terrifying and has a wicked since of humour. It finds inspiration in the horror classics of the 80s but at the same time feels like its raising the bar and bringing an outrageously fresh spin to whats out there. This is a role Marilyn Manson was born to play, and with Evan Rachel Wood bringing dramatic gravity to the ensemble I have no doubt this will take the horror genre to a new level.
It’s good to see David Gordon Green is taking to the role of producer with aplomb, where it’s your job to push a film with levels of hyperbole most people would find utterly ridiculous. As yet there’s no production date set. (Source: Screen International)
