The massive comic book movie, Green Lantern, started shooting recently, with Ryan Reynolds in the lead role, playing test pilot Hal Jordan, who is given a mystical ring and becomes the first human to be part of an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace in the universe.
One of the most intirguing things to emerge about the movie were reports a couple of months ago, that rather wearing a costume, Reynold’s supehero suit would be created using CG and can therefore change depending on what the character is doing and be a manifestation of the Green Lantern’s power. We’ve gotten official confirmation of this now, with MTV getting hold of the first image of Ryan Reynolds on the set, where he’s covered in motion capture dots (and for some reason seems to have a mo-cap tail), ready for his on-screen costume to be added in later using computers. It’s a bold move, and it’ll be interesting to see whether it works, or if the CG suit just looks stupid.
Take a look at the first image of Ryan Reynolds in his Green Lantern mo-cap costume below.
PS: Is Ryan Reynolds a giant, or is that one tiny dog?
