Now that she’s free from Grey’s Anatomy, Katherine Heigl doesn’t have to worry about squeezing her movie roles into the hiatus between seasons, or negotiating time off the TV series set to try and further her film career. One of the ways she’s using this new freedom is by joining the cast of the movie The Age Of Adaline.
The slightly Dorian Gray meets Benjamin Button meets Beauty and the Beat tale is about a woman born at the turn of the 20th Century who becomes immortal and ageless after an accident. However, after years living a solitary life, she meets a man who it might be worth losing her immortality for. However the THR report that revealed the Heigl casting doesn’t say exactly why she’d have to lose her immportality is she falls for the man, but I suppose it just par for the course in these sorts of films.
As yet there’s no director or other actors lined up for the movie, which will be based on a script by Mills Goodloe and Sal Pascowitz, although producers are said to be busily looking for both, with production scheduled to start in October.
It’ll be interesting to see if Heigl can sustain a movie career, as while she’s had previous success with the likes of Knocked Up and 27 Dresses, she’s always has Grey’s Anatomy to fall back on. Without that, the road ahead is far less clear.
