While Hayden Christensen’s career got a massive boost from Star Wars, he never really managed to capitalise on it, and indeed in the last couple of years we haven’t heard much from him. Indeed, his last feature length film was Jumper in 2008, although he does have Vanishing on 7th Street and Takers coming out later this year.
However now Variety reports Hayden’s lined up another movie, The Genesis Code. The film, directed by David R. Ellis (The Final Destination, Snakes On A Plane), is a slightly Da Vinci Code affair, based on a novel by John Case. Christensen will play a former national security expert who, while investigating the murder of his only sister and her young son, discovers that a religious sect called The Shadow of the Cross may be involved. With the help of his sister’s friend Ana, they follow the clues to a clinic in the mountains of Italy, where a terrifying secret experiment has been conducted – successfully. The results are so threatening to the foundation of the Church that they will do anything to keep it from being revealed.
See, told you it was Da Vinci Code-ish, although the book actually predates Dan Brown’s tome, having been first published in 1998. The distribution rights for the movie, which will be shot later this year, are up for sale at Cannes, with shooting due later this year and the film ready for cinemas in 2011.
