ere’s the latest casting news coming out of Hollywood…
Thanks to Nichelodeon’s iCarly, Miranda Cogrove is a huge name amongst the tween crowd and as a result Paramount reckons she’s a good bet to try and head a potential film franchise. They’ve put together a deal with British author and screenwriter Emma Forest to rewrite a script called How Can You Do This To Me?, which is being lined up as a star vehicle for Cosgrove. The story follows a teen of divorced parents whose life gets turned upside down when her mum and dad decide to get back together. (Source: Variety)
Richard Gere and Topher Grace have signed on to topline the movie The Double, which will mark the directing debut of Michael Brandt, who’s currently best known as the co-writer of Wanted and 3:10 To Yuma. The story concerns the murder of a senator who bears marks that suggest he was killed by a Soviet assassin. Gere’s retired CIA operative steps in to investigate, as he’s an expert in the now defunct Soviet regime, getting teamed with Grace’s younger agent. Hopefully this’ll be Topher’s break, as he left That ’70s Show with such high hopes, which have never quite been realised. Filming starts in June. (Source: Variety)
Comedienne Sarah SIlverman is in talks to join Seth Rogen and Michelle Williams in writer/director Sarah Polley’s indie dramedy, Take This Walz. The film is about a woman (Williams) whose struggles with infidelity lead her to realise that she may be addicted to the honeymoon period of her relationships and can’t handle it when reality intervenes. Silverman would play Rogen’s sister. (Source: Variety)
