Although there’s been a dramatic slump in the market for spec scripts, a few are managing to sneak through and pick up decent prices. One of those is Heatseekers, by attorney turned screenwriter George Mahaffey, which Paramount has just bought for Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes production company to bring to the screen.
The idea is that it will become part of the deal Paramount struck last year with Platinum Dunes for lower budget action flicks. According to THR, Heatseekers is in the mold of Fast & Furious and Point Break, and follows a young ex-military pilot who infiltrates a gang of aerial ‘pirates’ working out of Bangkok and takes part in an elaborate tower heist using powered gliders and parachutes. With a title like that, we wouldn’t be shocked to discover that missiles somehow feature in the film as well. That’d certainly make sense if Michael Bay is producing, as he sure loves to blow things up.
No director has yet been set for the film.
