It seems the big screen is about to get a look at the life of times of Ozzy Osbourne, as Sharon Osbourne announced that a deal has been done with a movie company for his life rights. According to Digital Spy, Sharon was speaking at a press conference for Celebrity Apprentice and let it be known that, “There’s about to be a big announcement. It’s been picked up and it’s going into production… We’re going to make a press announcement hopefully within the next two weeks. [There’s no cast] yet, but we have a producer and we have lots of money and we’re all starting.”
Apparently the film is most likely to have an unknown in the lead role (although some are already suggesting Russell Brand for the part). A film about Ozzy could certainly help change his image, as he’s become a bit of a cartoon character of late, so it’d be good to go back to the days when he was the hell-raising Black Sabbath singer who bit the head of bats and loaded his system with all the drugs he could find.
It’ll be interesting to see what direction they take, as it could purely be a vanity project celebration, or a cautionary tale of how too much partying can turn you into the shuffling, difficult to understand person we saw in The Osbournes.
