It looks like Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has found her new R-Patz, as THR is reporting that Shiloh Fernandez has nabbed the male romantic lead of Peter in Girl With the Red Riding Hood, a gothic horror re-imagining of the classic fairytale.
Amanda Seyfried has already signed up to play a woman in a medieval village being terrorised by a werewolf. It was apparently quite a tough audition process for Fernandez, who is said to have screen-tested and read seven times before nabbing the role of an orphaned woodcutter who the Red Riding Hooded girl falls for, much to the displeasure of her family (although presumably they don’t dislike him because he’s a vampire).
The young actor also apparently read for the role of Edward in Twilight, but lost out. This may finally be his big break after spending several years playing supporting roles in the likes of the TV series Jericho and United States Of Tara.
Girl With The Red Riding hood is due to start shooting in Canada soon.
