Although I’m not quite sure why we’re meant to treat Taylor Lautner as a major a-list star when he’s only appeared in a franchise that would have been a success whether he was there or not, we are, so I’ll just have to learn to live with it. Since New Moon he’s lined up all sorts of projects, from Stretch Armstrong to Abduction. It’s the latter that seem to be moving along quickest, with John Singleton already set as the director and now Lily Collins landing the love interest role (Team Jacob girls, start making voodoo dolls of her now).
Written by Shawn Christensen, Abduction is about a young man called Nathan (Lautner) who has long felt disconnected from his parents and then discovers his own baby pictures on a missing person’s website. This unleashes a chain of violent events, with Nathan and his girlfriend (Collins) going on the run, to try and work out why he was kidnapped as a child.
Although Lily’s not a major name yet, Phil Collins daughter (yep, she really is), appeared in The Blind Side and has recently finished a major role in Priest, opposite Paul Bettany, so she’s obviously being lined up as Hollywood’s next big thing. Shooting on Abduction will start this summer. (Source: Deadline)
