Last night the internet went into a bit of a rumour metldown, after reports emerged that there was major trouble with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. It was said (via Lainey Gossip) that Summit Entertainment was having huge creative differences with director David Slade and as a result, they wanted reshoots, but not with him in charge. Instead they were reaching out to the directors of the first two movies, Catherine Hardwicke and Chris Weitz, to see whether they’d meet up with the cast and crew in Vancouver to oversee the revision.
It was said that among the key scenes needed to be reshot were a scene between Kristen Stewart’s Bella and Robert Pattinson Edward in a meadow, along with a few key fight scenes. It was also said that the reshoots will consist of just three days of work, but with the cast and crew putting in 18-hour days, and they were expected to take place within the next few weeks.
However, Gossip Cop now says they’ve reached out to Summit Representatives, who says there are no problems between then and Slade, and that while there will indeed be a few days of reshoots (although not of the scenes rumoured above), these are merely the sort of pick-ups that happen with most major movies, and Slade will indeed be handling them himself. It always seemed slightly unlikely Summit would have gone to Hardwicke, seeing as they fell out with her after the first film, however this is likely to lead to speculation over whether there are genuine problems with Eclipse or not, or if people are just looking for issues where there aren’t any.
