It may seem odd to write a post pointing out that someone isn’t doing something – after all there are over six billion other people I could have said won’t be playing Spider-man in a movie – however Percy Jackson star Logan Lerman is a special case, as over the weekend rumours emerged (via Hitfix) that the young actor was “almost 100% locked but not in contract negotiations for the role yet.” Unsurprisingly those rumours spread around the internet like wildfire, although we held back because we were pretty much expecting what’s now happened.
Sony has issued a denial of the Lerman rumours, through Deadline, which says “insiders at Sony say that the young actor is not getting the role. In fact, these sources were very definitive in denying the story, and were sure that Lerman was 100% not going to be Spidey and that he is not on the list of candidates being seriously considered for the new film”.
That would seem pretty definitive, although it does suggest there’s already a shortlist and that Sony and director Marc Webb are already lining up serious candidates – we just don’t know who they are yet. Expect to hear more soon as reboot gears up even further.
