Although nothing has officially been announced as yet, rumours are going into overdrive that Harrison Ford is due to sign onto Jon Favreau’s upcoming big-budget comic book movie, Cowboys & Aliens, which is due to star Daniel Craig (after Robert Downey Jr. dropped out a couple of months ago).
The rumour emerged from Latino Review, who say they got a tip late last week saying that Harrison Ford was ‘about to join a huge comic book movie to be directed by a director coming off a soon to be released huge comic book movie’ (i.e. Favreau, who’s got Iron Man 2 coming out at the end of the month). At the time they didn’t post anything as they couldn’t substantiate the news, but changed their mind after Favreau himself tweeted that there was some, “Some very cool Cowboys & Aliens casting news coming soon…”
It would certainly make sense for Ford, who’s continued to try and be a solo leading man for the past decade, even though his only sugnificant success was the fourth Indiana Jones movie. Joining big flicks with other major names would seem a good bet for the star if he wants to have a few more box office champions.
As yet, nothing’s been officially announced, and it could be that Favreau’s casting news is somebody completely different, but at the moment it seems there’s an exceedingly good chance that Ford is joining the wild west movie, which is about a group of cowboys and indians who have to stop fighting each other so they can take on an alien threat.
