I’m not entirely sure what Jessica Biel is for. She seems to be the actress called upon when the you need someone really pretty so its distracts from the fact that the film around her is a bit rubbish. However if Pajiba is correct, she could be going in a more serious and interesting direction with Mob Girl.
The film is based on the true story of a mob mistress, Arlyne Brickman, who was raped, beaten and humiliated by several Mafia wiseguys, but who, in turn, infiltrated the organised crime world and became indispensable to many of the mob’s top men. She eventually turned states evidence, helping to put away Anthony Scarpati. Biel is currently attached to the main role, and interestingly An Education director Lone Scherfig is scheduled to direct.
At the moment Mob Girl is at a fairly early stage, as the project is still looking for writers, but with Scherfig involved, it suggests we could be getting something more intriguing than ususal, and certainly a movie which shows Biel in a different light.
