Jason Statham gets to step into Charles Bronson’s shoes in The Mechanic, a reimagining of the 1972 Bronson movie of the same name (which was directed by Michael Winner). Statham plays an elite hitman who befriends a young man (Ben Foster) who wants to learn the trade. However it becomes clear that the apprentice may have an ulterior motive, which puts both their lives in danger. The trailer below was made more to drum up interest amongst potential distributors than for the public, but it still gives you a good idea of what Simon West’s (Con Air) film is all about. It looks like Statham’s back to doing what he does best – kicking-ass – so the film should find a distributor soon and hit cinemas before the end of the year.
